Bye Bye, Tired Eyes – Essential Festive Beauty Rescues

Social media is awash with glamorous, glittering images of women of all ages looking their most festively fabulous right now.  But what we’re not posting is the next morning, when we’ve got to get up and face the world looking and considerably less polished.

That’s where our essential makeup tips for post-party recovery come in!  You might still feel like something the cat dragged in, but you’ll look fresh as a daisy!

1 Hide fatigue and give yourself an instant eye-lift by tapping a serum into the eye area – store it in the fridge for an extra soothing rejuvenating treat!

TRY: Miracle Effect Priming Serum, £69,

2 You can fake a glow in seconds.  Simply highlight the areas that naturally catch the light; the fullest part of the cheek, the centre of the nose, brow-bone, and the Cupid’s bow.

TRY: Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, £29

3 Use your concealer brush to pat concealer into the ‘hidden’ areas of tiredness – corners of the lips, tear stains at the outer corner of the eyes and nose to mouth lines (blending well) for an instant lift.

TRY: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, £27.50

4 To pep up the peepers and cover the signs of a late night, a nude, not white, eye pencil is best.  Run along the inner eye for an instantly wide-awake appearance.

TRY: I-Lift Longwear Liner, £22

5 Suffering with reddened skin because of the ‘weather’ (ahem, too many gins)?  Tamper it down with a pat of a green colour-corrector, then skip blusher and instead contour with a matte, natural brown tone to put more depth back into the skin.

TRY: Estee Lauder Double Wear Colour Correcting Duo, £20.40

6 DON’T be tempted to cake foundation everywhere if your skin is less-than-perfect.  Use a light base and apply camouflage products where you need them only.

TRY: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, £28.05

7 If you need extra colour or are looking a little green around the gills, a peachy tinted blush with a hint of shimmer is more flattering then pink. Add to the apples of the cheeks for a natural, youthful flush, the blend up to the hairline.

TRY: Plumping Blush Glow-plexion, £24
