Making the Oscars that little bit less tedious last night was one of our very favourite actresses, Olivia Colman. A surprise winner for Best Actress over Glenn Close who was the hot favourite, Oliva won for her role in period drama The Favourite. Even Olivia was shocked by her win. “You've been my idol for so long,” she said while looking at Close, “and this is not how I wanted it to be.”
Colman went on to thank her co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, while also encouraging all the young talent watching. “Any little girl who's practicing your speech on the telly, you never know!” she exclaimed. “I used to work as a cleaner and I spent quite a lot of my time imagining this.” There’s definitely no need for her to imagine any longer. We’re so glad the world has finally cottoned onto the talent and charm of Olivia, who was beyond humble when she accepted the award. “This is hilarious. I got an Oscar,” she blurted out, which was such a refreshing change from the many worthy speeches on the night. Please never change Olivia!
